IMAP Begins CBT Exams Next Session

Acting Rector of the Isa Mustapha Agwai l Polytechnic Lafia, Dr. Nurudeen Mu'azu Maifata said the institution cannot be left behind in using contemporary trends to compete favourably with other institutions of learning across the world.

Dr. Maifata said a committee has since been set up to provide modalities for the conduct of examination through Computer-Based Test in the Polytechnic, a development he said would be pocket-friendly and curb examination malpractice than the existing Paper-Pencil Test.

He disclosed this during an exclusive interview with Nasarawa Newsline's General Editor, Shuaibu Usman in Lafia, noting that henceforth the institution will not conduct examination using manual approach in any class of over 150 students as it has a fully functioning and digitally accredited Computer-Based Centre.

He added that the use of Paper-Pencil Test has caused the institution a lot of money and time, noting that with the recent development, students will have their results published few minutes after the examinations.

The Acting Rector emphasised that it will curb malpractice and improve the integrity of the certificate presented to all students as they go to the labour market.

He added that the Polytechnic spends hugely on examination and information resource materials more than the money paid by the students of the institution, commending Governor Abdullahi Sule who has recently promised to augment the fees as increasing the fees for students to pay will constitute a burden on the students due to the current economic climate in the country.

He praised the Alumni Association of the Polytechnic for standing by the management in advancing academic and infrastructure development in the institution, maintaining that the Association is now financially autonomous to solicit support from spirited individuals and institutions to complement government's efforts.
